New IP
Functionality confirms TANDBERG’s position as the technology leader in
videoconferencing
Oslo, February 13, 2001 – TANDBERG,
a global leader in videoconferencing, today announced the release of its
latest software version. This software introduces and extends many
exciting features across the TANDBERG portfolio including increased IP
functionality, higher bandwidth on a variety of network interfaces and
an extension of the MultiSiteTF feature to include audio
conferencing capabilities.
As Bengt Thuresson, President and CEO of TANDBERG, says, «Regular
software releases guarantee that TANDBERG remains an industry leader in
videoconferencing, providing existing and potential users with the
functionality to make videoconferencing a rewarding experience. During
the past year, we have introduced a common hardware platform across the
entire TANDBERG range, ensuring that all systems will benefit to the
fullest from our latest developments.»
Through the introduction of this latest software, all of the outstanding
TANDBERG features that have been available on ISDN, will now also be
available on IP. With such advanced functionality as built-in MultiSiteTF,
Digital ClarityTF, Duo VideoTF and Natural VideoTF,
TANDBERG is a clear technology leader in videoconferencing over IP.
TANDBERG’s aim has always been to make the use of videoconferencing as
simple and widespread as possible. With this extended IP functionality,
users are guaranteed maximum benefit from their systems, regardless of
the type of network they use.
The TANDBERG MultiSiteTF previously meant involving up to
four VideoSites in one meeting. This has now been extended to include
audio conferencing capabilities in a unique TANDBERG feature. MultiSiteTF,
whether on IP or ISDN, now refers to multiple VideoSites and AudioSites
(telephone calls) linked together in one conference. In addition, a
TANDBERG system may also be used as an audio conferencing system whereby
up to 5 AudioSites can join together in a purely audio conference.
Telephone callers may dial in to a videoconference and videoconferencing
users may dial out to telephones.
The new software also allows the top of the range products, the TANDBERG
6000 and the TANDBERG 7000, to run on high bandwidths on a variety of
network interfaces in point-to-point calls. This means 2Mbps on IP,
2Mbps on ISDN PRI (E1), 1.5Mbps on ISDN PRI (T1), and 2Mbps on external
networks. Those using the TANDBERG 6000 and TANDBERG 7000 systems can
also enjoy a new network option – Leased E1 (2Mbps)/T1 (1.5Mbps). This
will allow users increased flexibility in their choice of network and
simplify the use of leased E1/T1 through a direct connection.
