Polycom’s Visual Concert
PC allows live, 4CIF resolution expression of the PC during ViewStation
video calls.
MILPITAS,
Calif., Feb. 13, 2001 -- Polycom®, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), a worldwide
leader in broadband communication solutions, announced today the first
patent pending product in its new Visual Concert™ VGA adaptor family,
the Visual Concert™ PC. This new VGA adaptor adds even greater value
to Polycom’s ViewStation™ video communications products by enabling
customers to share live PC content during a video call.
Polycom’s Visual Concert PC allows users to display live PC graphics
at 4CIF (704x480 NTSC and 704x576 PAL) resolution from a ViewStation
video communications system to both near and far sites. This new
capability for presenting graphical information real-time is available
using standard ViewStation monitors and requires only a quick and easy
plug-in, not a separate software installation. Users simply insert the
hot-swappable PC card into their PC, connect the card to the ViewStation
mic pod then to the ViewStation video system. The application runs
completely off of the PC card and is easily accessed through an icon
that appears on the computer screen.
“Polycom’s new Visual Concert PC increases the utility of our
ViewStation products, allowing users to transmit live PC images during a
standard video call,” said Craig Malloy, senior vice president and
general manager for enterprise visual communications at Polycom. “This
product enhances the ease of use and flexibility of our video
communications systems, effectively meeting the collaboration needs of
our customers.”
