EZENIA! ENCOUNTER 3000 POWERS U.S. NAVY LEARNING NETWORK’S DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM

BURLINGTON, Mass., February 12, 2001 – Ezenia! Inc. (NASDAQ: EZEN), a leading provider of real-time collaboration solutions for corporate networks and eBusinesses, today announced that the U.S. Navy Learning Network has successfully deployed the Ezenia! Encounter 3000 solution to enhance its distance learning program.

Working with a key Ezenia! reseller, Applied Global Technologies (AGT), The Navy Learning Network chose Encounter 3000 as the foundation for its distance learning program, allowing instructors and students to create collaborative meeting places where they can communicate voice-to-voice, face-to-face and in real-time.

“It is critical in this age of continually advancing technology and knowledge that training efforts not be compromised by distance,” AGT director of business development, Todd Jacobson said. “The distance learning solution that AGT has built using the Ezenia! Encounter product line will allow the Navy Learning Network to continue delivering the best training in the world in the most timely and efficient fashion.”

Using Encounter 3000, the Navy Learning Network Video Teletraining links 27 sites, including 34 classrooms and nine conference rooms, to allow over 12,000 students and conference attendees annually, across the country, to participate in distance learning programs ranging from combat training to university course work. The Ezenia! technology has also allowed the Navy to transmit Masters of Business Administration classes from Old Dominion University and Masters of Public Administration classes from Georgia State College & University to Navy ships deployed at sea.
