When
using multipoint bridging, you will be asked if any
features are needed. Features involved with bridging
include continuous presence, speed matching, data
sharing, etc. These features can enhance your
videoconference to create a higher quality conference.
The most common bridging features are covered below:
Continuous presence option will give you a display
layout of sites on a call. This feature is common for
calls of usually nine sites and under. Remember when
adding more sites to continuous presence each square
gets smaller and more difficult to see the participants.
An example of continuous presence options are shown
below:
Transcoding allows multiple connections at various
speeds. This feature is used when high quality is needed
and available but one or more sites have low quality
connections. Under this scenario, sites with high speed
connections run at full speed while lower speed
connections run at a separate speed. This might be seen
with companies with at home workers.
Data sharing
or T.120 connects compatible system together to share
data. An example would be a Doctor, with T.120 enabled
on all endpoints in a videoconference a file, document,
even a graphic or slide can be shared. Once the item is
shared it can be worked on and edited by participants on
the conference.
New features are being added and improved constantly.
