How do I
configure a Lucent Multiband IMUX using the
960/970?
Connect the Lucent Multiband
IMUX to the 960/970 COM 1 port using the Db9
Female end of the Db9 to RJ12 cable Ascend
Part#: 2510-0088-001, PACT Part#:
180-0184-01)) and connect the RJ12 end to
the Control port of the IMAX. With the
960/970 Collaboration Application closed,
open the Microsoft HyperTerminal terminal
emulation program: START >> PROGRAMS
>> ACCESSORIES >> HYPERTERMINAL
Launch HyperTerminal: Connection Description
> Name: (anything can be typed in here)
then click OK.
Connect To > Connect Using: COM 1 then
click OK.
COM1 Properties/Port Settings: Bits per
second: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: NONE
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: NONE Click OK.
Press Ctrl / L on your keyboard to refresh
the screen. At this point you will be in
control of the IMUX. The IMUX has four
different menus(Configure, Directory,
Diagnostics, Security). To see all the menus
go to the Main Edit Menu by pressing the Esc
key on your keyboard. To configure the IMUX
select the Configure Menu. To do this make
sure your arrow (>) is to the left of
Configure. Now either use your "right
arrow key" or "enter" key on
your keyboard to access the Configure
screen. You will use the arrow keys, Esc and
enter buttons to navigate in the IMUX.
Configure screen: My Name: Type Company Name
etc.. Switch Type = (AT&T/P-T-P,
AT&T/Multi-P, NTI, NI-1) Get Switch Type
info from Local Telephone Carrier. Line 1:
Enabled = Yes Chan Usage = Switch/Switch My
Num A = B1 from 1st line( 4-7 digit# ) My
Num B = B2 from 1st line if AT&T P-T-P
no B2) SPID 1 = usually your 7 digit or 10
digit B1 Tel # plus a suffix or prefix (Get
SPIDs from your Local Telephone Carrier)
SPID 2 = B2 plus a suffix or prefix Note: NO
SPIDS for AT&T P-T-P Switch Type. You
can have from 1 to 4 ISDN lines and would
configure them in this manner. After
configuring all lines go back to the
Configure screen. The following fields after
Line 4 are not configured here ( Dial #,
Data Svc, Call Type and Call Mgm). Set Idle
= None >>> Dial = RS-366
Ext1>>> Answer = P-Tel Man
>>> Clear = DTR Inactive
>>> Early CD = None >>>
Strip Digit = (Blank)
Advanced ... Go into the Advanced Menu by
using your right arrow or enter. Configure
Advanced ... Term Rate = 9600 >>>
Console = Standard Remote Mgmt = Yes
>>> Parallel Dial = 5 >>>
Auto Logout = No >>> Idle Logout =
0 >>> RS-366 Esc = N/A >>>
Dual Port = 1 & 2 Dual if making 2

Now the IMUX DIRECTORY must be configured.
Go to Main Edit Menu > Arrow down to
Directory > Either use your right arrow
or enter key to access the Directory Dialing
IMUX Codes. The Dialing Codes in the IMUX
MUST be the same as the Dialing Codes hard
set in the 960/970. The 960/970 default
Lucent Multiband IMUX codes are the

To configure the first Dialing Profile Code)
#001 1x56kbps you arrow to "01" in
the Directory. Name = 1x56k >>>
Dial = Leave blank >>> Call Type =
1 Chnl >>> Call Mgm = N/A
>>> Data Svc = 56K >>>
Force 56 = No. Leave the remaining fields as
they are currently displayed. Now press
"Esc" then either arrow down to 2=
Exit and Accept and press Enter or simply
Press "2". This Dialing Profile
Code) is currently stored in your Dialing
Directory. The second Dialing Profile Code)
#002 1x64kbps will be set up the same as
#001 except Name = 1x64k and Data Svc = 64K.
To set up Dialing Profiles Codes) #003 &
#004, Name each Profile Code) appropriately
and set Call Type = 2 Chnl. All other
settings remain the same as the first two
Profiles Codes).
To set up Profile Code) #005 - #014 do the
following: Set Name appropriate per Profile
Code) >>> Call Type = BONDING
>>> Call Mgm = Mode 1 >>>
Data Svc = 64k for all 64k call profiles
codes) and 56k for all 56k call profiles
codes) >>> Force 56 = No
>>> Base Ch Count = 2 for #005
& #006, 4 for #007 & #008, 6 for
#009 & #010, 8 for #011 & #012 and
12 for #013 & #014.
You are now ready to make calls.
